Talented 19-year-old Liverpool starlet set for loan move to the EFL Championship

Liverpool starlet Sepp van den Berg set for Preston North End loan move

According to the Lancashire Post, Liverpool youngster Sepp van den Berg is closing in on another loan move to EFL Championship club Preston North End for the 2021/22 season.

Having come through the youth ranks at Dutch outfit PEC Zwolle, Van den Berg made the switch to Liverpool in the summer of 2019 and made his first-team debut in September that year in a Carabao Cup clash. The Dutch defender added three more appearances for the Reds over the course of the 2019/20 term.

Sepp van den Berg joined Liverpool in 2019

Van den Berg did not feature in any game for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the first half of the 2020/21 campaign, prompting a loan exit in January earlier this year. And, having signed for Preston North End, the 19-year-old defender quickly established himself as a regular at Deepdale.

Indeed, Van Den Berg managed 16 appearances for the EFL Championship outfit, not missing a single league outing since late February. Despite being a central defender, the young Dutch ace did a job at right-back as well as right wing-back for the Lilywhites, making quite an impression.

And, it seems like he has done enough to prompt the Championship club to sign him up on loan for another season. Indeed, as per the aforementioned report, Van den Berg is close to securing a return to Deepdale on yet another loan stint. It is said that Liverpool are willing to let the 19-year-old make the switch to the club, with talks set to take place this week.

More Liverpool News:

With the signing of Ibrahima Konate, first-team chances were always going to be hard to come for Van den Berg at Anfield. So, another stint away on loan, in familiar environs like Preston, will only hold him in good stead in the long run.
