Transfer News: Everton and West Ham United join Liverpool in Joaquin Correa pursuit
According to a report by Italian outlet Italy24News (h/t The Mirror), West Ham United and Everton have joined Liverpool in chasing 26-year-old Lazio forward, Joaquin Correa.
The Argentine frontman joined Lazio from Sevilla in 2018 and has since impressed. He grabbed 11 goals and 6 assists for the club mainly playing as a second striker for the Serie A side. (h/t transfermarkt)
The Reds seemingly want to strengthen their forward line as they look to put this season behind them. The defending Premier League champions clinched third position on the last day of the season after being outside the top 4 in the last few months.
But they still finished without a trophy, with injuries across the pitch playing a major role in derailing their campaign. So it only makes sense to sign players in a bid to add depth to the club’s ranks.
Correa to England?
Ibrahima Konate has already joined the team ahead of the Euros. And in Correa, the Reds can have a good option up front, especially wen Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah join their teams for AFCON next year.
However, Jurgen Klopp would need to be quick if he is to get a deal across the line for the former Sampdoria man. The report mentions that the Toffees and the Hammers have already made enquiries about him.
And it is also believed that an ‘unnamed club’ has submitted a £25.8million offer which Lazio are considering. Maurizio Sarri seems to be the one to take over the managerial helm after Simone Inzaghi left, and Correa could be one of the players to make way.
