Transfer News: Man United lead Liverpool in the race for Jadon Sancho

According to Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are yet to make a move for Borussia Dortmund sensation Jadon Sancho as Manchester United initiate contact.

The English winger has been linked with Liverpool recently but it seems like the Reds are trailing Manchester United in this race. Romano also states that United have re-started talks with Sancho and a potential contract until 2026 is suggested.

Dortmund are believed to be wanting somewhere near €90-€95million for the 21-year-old. The winger is one of the hottest prospects in the world and was impressive at Dortmund this season as they secured a late top-4 finish.

This comes as a blow to us especially because United are involved in the deal. As if potentially losing out on a quality attacker wasn’t bad enough, it could be to our biggest rivals.

Sancho to Anfield looks tough

However, this shouldn’t mean that Jurgen Klopp should not aim to sign a quality attacker. As of now, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Diogo Jota make for a more than potent forward line.

But there will come a time when the club will have to plan ahead. While it is not urgent, it cannot be too far, and the need for depth upfront is pretty important in the upcoming season.

That is because of the African Cup of Nations that takes place in January and February next year. Mane and Salah would most certainly go for the tournament, leaving Liverpool with a lack of quality players on the wings.
