Liverpool’s front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane have terrorised defences for the past three seasons. However, this season the goals among the three have dried up. Salah’s tally of 20 in the league is the only respectable tally out of the three so far this season.
The Reds forward line is in desperate need of a shake-up ahead of a renewed title challenge next season. Gamblers will be able to use the Virgin Bet bonus code to make a wager on the Reds winning the league title next season, but which strikers could the club target to lead the line in the 2021-22 season?
Youssef En-Nesyri
The Reds could look towards one of the most in-form strikers in Europe over the summer months, as Youssef En-Nesyri is already a star that the biggest clubs are circling around. The 23-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic campaign for Sevilla this season, as he has scored 17 goals in 20 appearances in La Liga. His record in the Champions League before Sevilla’s departure would also be cause for optimism, as he scored six goals in four games.
The Moroccan covers a lot of qualities that the Reds will be looking for in a striker. He is quick, and is comfortable dropping deeper and into wide positions. He is also an excellent focal point of an attack, as he wins an average of 2.6 aerial duals per match in La Liga.
Ollie Watkins
Liverpool have experienced firsthand the quality of Ollie Watkins this season. The Villa striker scored a hat-trick against Jurgen Klopp’s side in the 7-2 defeat earlier in the season, and has quickly taken to Premier League football. Watkins has scored a respectable 12 goals in 32 games this season, and has also chipped in with four assists. His Premier League experience will be an advantage over other potential signings, and he ticks a lot of boxes.
Watkins can play out wide as well as through the middle, and is mobile, so he can run the channels to create problems for opposing defences. His rise to the top has been a fantastic story over the past couple of seasons, and a move to Liverpool would certainly be something that would interest him. The 25-year-old would also see a move to Anfield as a way to improve his chances of regular England caps.
Andrea Belotti
A name that not just Liverpool fans but all Premier League fans should get used to hearing over the summer is Andrea Belotti. Both Manchester United and Liverpool have already sounded out the possibility of making a move for the Italian, and it’s expected that Torino would be willing to listen to offers for their number nine.
Despite Torino stuttering throughout the season, Belotti has still managed to score 12 goals and make six assists in 28 league games. He averages 3.3 shots per game in Italy, and wins 2.2 aerial duals per match. A Premier League move could appeal for the tall Italian, as he looks set to end his six-year association with Torino.
