Transfer News: Liverpool want Alexander Isak compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic

According to transfer news from Express, Liverpool are eyeing a move for Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak, who has been compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish striker is starring for his nation at the Euros as interest in him grows among Europe’s elite.

The 21-year-old Isak came through the youth ranks at Swedish club AIK. He made 29 first-team appearances before being snapped up by Borussia Dortmund in January 2017. The striker had a difficult time in Germany, as he struggled to break into the senior team at Dortmund.

In January 2019, he was sent on a six-month loan to Willem II, where he impressed, scoring 14 goals in just 18 games. Isak joined Real Sociedad in 2019 and the 20-year-old striker has impressed in his two seasons in Spain.

It was one of those peculiar seasons for Liverpool where most of their forwards failed to step up. At times, it felt as if Mo Salah was single-handedly pushing Liverpool over the finish line. The likes of Mane and Firmino had damp seasons. Backups Shaqiri and Origi provided nothing to write home about either.

Due to that, Liverpool are closely keeping an eye on Isak. The Swede has come a long way, developing into one of the best emerging forwards. The youngster proved that he can step it up against the big boys when he managed to bother Spain’s centre-backs in a significant way.
