According to transfer news from Mirror, Manchester City are looking to hijack a deal for Liverpool target Florian Neuhaus. The Premier League Champions have put themselves in contention to sign the German midfielder from Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Reds are in need of reinforcements in midfield to replace Georginio Wijnaldum. The Dutch international will be joining PSG after a five-year spell at Anfield.
The 24-year-old Neuhaus has steadily grown into one of the best central midfielders on show in the Bundesliga over the past couple of seasons. Having now established a foothold in the German club, Neuhaus could also be set for a key role in the Euros with his nation.
While Liverpool were thought to be one of the leading sides to sign the German midfielder, they could now be facing a threat. Premier League rivals Manchester City are now looking to hijack the deal for Neuhaus by registering their interest in him.
This should be some concern for Liverpool, who will need to add a new midfielder to the side. The race for Neuhaus is surely heating up as Premier League sides go toe-to-toe for his services. If Liverpool want their man, they will have to hurry.
