African club’s chairman claims Liverpool have completed £1.5m deal for this Ghana starlet

Transfer News: Abdul Fatawu Issahaku set to join Liverpool from Ghana side Steadfast

A report by the Express claims that the club chairman of Ghanaian club Steadfast FC has confirmed that Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has completed a move to Liverpool.

The fee is in the region of £1.5million as Liverpool make their second signing of the season. The Reds have already signed Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig after meeting his £34million release clause.

The 17-year-old Ghanaian playmaker made a big impression for the Black Stars’ U20 in the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year. He scored 2 goals

and assisted once in 6 games as he was named the player of the tournament.

However, the Reds faithful could have to wait a bit longer to see him in a Liverpool shirt. The report mentions that Issahaku would be loaned out to Portuguese champions, Sporting, for the next campaign.

From Ghana to Merseyside

Speaking to Ghana Football (h/t The Express), Steadfast chairman Haruna Iddrisu underlined the importance of the fee that they received for their teenage sensation.

“When I started negotiation for Abdul Issahaku Fatawu’s move to abroad, it started from more than 1 million euros and this means if we get corporate sponsorships, we can do better. We need to do more to make our football attractive and by doing that we get more hands-on board to sponsor our football because on weekends, football is the business everywhere so I am pleading to the corporate world.”

Issahaku would be an exciting addition to the Reds squad where he can compete with the likes of Harvey Elliott in order to break into the first-team.

He plays as an attacking midfielder but has also deputized on the wings in his short professional career. But the transfer business should not end here for the Reds.

A midfielder, and perhaps a senior attacker would be icing on the cake as Jurgen Klopp’s men look to get back to winning ways after an underwhelming season.
