Fans react as Ozan Kabak bids goodbye to Liverpool

Kabak arrived at Liverpool during the January transfer window, at a time when the club was mired in crisis in the defensive department. Indeed, Jurgen Klopp & co. had lost Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip to injuries and were having to use the likes of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson in defence.

Kabak, though, arrived on loan, with an option to make the transfer permanent. And even though there were a few early jitters, the Turkish defender settled in well and played his part in helping the Reds achieve a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Liverpool, however, having signed Ibrahima Konate earlier this summer, have decided not to make Kabak’s transfer permanent. And, with his loan deal expiring today officially, the Schalke ace penned a farewell to the club and the fans.

“I have learned a lot from my manager Jürgen Klopp and all my teammates and I was proud to be part of this special family. I will always remember my days here at Liverpool with great happiness and the special song which you have kindly gifted me.”

Fans took to social media to react to Kabak’s message and got a tad emotional, thanking the Turkish international for helping the club out in a difficult moment. There were a few who even urged Liverpool to sign him up on a permanent basis.

Here are some of the reactions as Kabak’s time at Anfield comes to an end.
