Transfer News: Liverpool on alert as Danny Ings rejects new Southampton contract
According to transfer news from Mirror, Liverpool have been alerted to the availability of Danny Ings. The former Liverpool striker has refused to extend his stay at Southampton after he was offered a new contract. Now, Liverpool are aware of the situation as they try to sign a new striker.
The Reds are closely familiar with Danny Ings. The English striker spent three years at Anfield from 2015 to 2018 after leaving Burnley. However, repetitive injury problems meant that Ings would only play 25 games for them, scoring four goals.
After spending a year on loan at Southampton, Liverpool sanctioned a sale for him. Safe to say Ings has done very well in the last few years. The striker has an astonishing goal contribution of 56 from 100 appearances for the Saints.
Now, Ings has refused to put pen to paper on a new deal from Southampton. That has pricked up the ears of his former employers as Liverpool are looking to bring in another striker to provide competition for Roberto Firmino. Ings’ current deal ends within a year, leaving him as a free agent next season.

While Liverpool fans may not have fond memories of Ings, he has taken it in his stride and is now one of the better strikers in the league. Re-signing Ings would be a huge punt. But given the form he is in, it wouldn’t be too bad to take a leap.
