Transfer News: No swap deal between Porto and Liverpool for Marko Grujic and Otavio

According to a report by TeamTalk (h/t Liverpool Echo), any pursuit by Liverpool for Otavio will be mutually exclusive with a deal that could see Marko Grujic head to Porto.

The Brazilian playmaker is linked with a move to the Reds and is pushing for a move from his end. According to A Bola (h/t Liverpool Echo), his agent has given the ‘green light’ to a possible move to Anfield.

On the other hand, out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic can move to the Portuguese side this summer. The report mentions that the Reds are ‘close’ to agreeing on a deal with Porto.

With these two stories running side by side, it was natural for links of a swap deal to emerge. But that has been shot down and both deals will likely be conducted separately during the summer.

Grujic and Otavio saga drags on

Liverpool are believed to be holding out for a €17million fee for their Serbian midfielder but the two sides could settle down for a €13million deal. He could well be the second midfielder to leave the club this summer.

Georginio Wijnaldum has already left the club but Grujic would still find it hard to get minutes at the club considering the kind of names at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal.

Otavio can offer the Reds an impressive amount of versatility. Capable of playing on either wing, he is equally adroit as a No.10, something the Reds can use in the midfield.

At 26, his age would also not be a problem as he can prove to be a long-term asset. As for Grujic, it is clear he is not in Jurgen Klopp’s immediate plans considering the string of loan spells he has enjoyed since joining the club in 2016.
