Liverpool Transfer News: Brentford interested in signing winger Harry Wilson

According to a report by Football Insider (h/t The Mirror), Brentford have ‘enquired about the possibility of signing’ Liverpool winger Harry Wilson in the summer window.

The Bees were promoted to the Premier League last season after a brilliant campaign in the Championship under Thomas Frank. And they are now looking to bolster their squad with the potential addition of Liverpool’s Welsh winger.

Wilson has had trouble finding game time under Jurgen Klopp for quite some time now. His recurrent loan spells over the past few seasons prove the same. He has had temporarily spells at Hull City, Derby County, Bournemouth, Cardiff City, and Crewe Alexandra during that time.

The Reds were open to offloading him last year as well. However, their £20million asking price put teams off. But with just one year left on the 24-year-old’s current contract, things could be different now.

Wilson to Brentford?

Brentford are said to be willing to pay £10million for the winger’s services. That is lower than Liverpool’s valuation of Wilson last summer, but it is better than potentially losing him on a free transfer later on.

Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, and Sadio Mane are pretty much the irreplaceable wingers in Liverpool’s senior team. Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi too can dabble on the wing if required.

In light of that, the Liverpool youth academy product would know that first-team action would be hard to come by. At his age, he should make a decision about his future.
