Transfer News: Leicester City star Youri Tielemans pushing for Liverpool move
According to Belgian outlet Voetbal24 (h/t Liverpool Echo), Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans is ‘pressing to agree a deal’ to join Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
The Foxes would not be opposed to such a move if their asking price of ‘at least £64million‘ is met. The Reds are understandably on the lookout for a new midfielder after the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum.
The report mentions that Saul Niguez, Florian Neuhaus, Yves Bissouma, and Renato Sanches have also been linked with a move to Anfield as the Reds search for a replacement for their now-departed Dutchman.
Wijnaldum ran down his deal at Liverpool and is now at PSG, the club he joined as a free agent. While Liverpool have players like Curtis Jones that can take up the mantle, a new face in midfield will give added assurance to the fanbase.
Tielemans to Anfield?
Tielemans, 24, scored a sumptuous goal in the FA Cup final earlier this year to hand his team the trophy and end Chelsea’s hopes of their first domestic title under Thomas Tuchel. That was a small display of just what the Belgian midfielder is capable of.
He also has the experience of playing in England as he has spent two seasons in the Premier League since his move from AS Monaco in 2019.
The asking price from the Foxes, however, seems to be pretty steep. If Liverpool meet that figure, it could make him the third most expensive signing in the history of the club, just behind Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk.

But quality costs a lot in this day and age. Considering Tielemans’ age, quality, and potential, the Reds would not be making a mistake if they get a deal across the line for the former Anderlecht man.
