Transfer News: Liverpool and Arsenal linked with Matheus Pereira of West Brom

According to The Mirror, Liverpool and Arsenal are two Premier League clubs ‘circling’ West Bromwich Albion winger Matheus Pereira.

Earlier this week, Saudi Arabian side, Al Hilal, were believed to have submitted a £7million offer for the Brazilian. However, the report mentions that it fell short of West Brom’s valuation.

The exciting winger was loaned in from Sporting CP in 2019 during West Brom’s stay in the Championship. Upon promotion, the club made his move permanent.

But the Baggies are down in the second division again, and Pereira looks like he could leave amidst interest from Premier League’s big boys, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Several clubs want Pereira

West Brom’s new manager, Valerien Ismael, provided a fresh update on Pereira’s future earlier this week. His words, however, were diplomatic and did not give away a lot about the 25-year-old’s fate at The Hawthorns.

“With Pereira – we spoke really openly about the situation. I don’t have a problem. We made it simple, you are in or you are out. But if you are in, you are 100 per cent. He said in training he would give 100 per cent and he is focused. I can’t say anything else.”

Is Pereira a player that the Reds can use? He most certainly is, considering the club’s need to provide Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane with adequate backup.

The versatile Diogo Jota can and has played across the attacking line for Liverpool but the Portuguese star cannot cover two positions at once, can he? And hence, Pereira would provide the Reds with an extra option out wide.
