Liverpool duo Andy Robertson and Diogo Jota in line to make their first appearance of pre-season

Jurgen Klopp would be delighted to see some of his first-team stars come back into the Liverpool squad for their pre-season in Austria, with Andy Robertson and Diogo Jota in line to make their respective first appearances against Hertha Berlin on Thursday.

Both players have returned from their holidays after enduring a long domestic season, which was followed by the Euros. While Andy Robertson featured heavily for Scotland, Diogo Jota was also a regular name in the Portuguese line-up at the Euros.

The pair is, however, back in training and Jurgen Klopp is hoping to play the duo against German outfit Hertha Berlin on Thursday, while there could also be some minutes for other players in the squad.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Klopp explained

They will have minutes, that’s the plan. They obviously trained completely normal all the time now, and we try to involve them.”

However, Klopp also explained that both players might not last the entire ninety minutes.

“Some of them are ready for 60 minutes, it will be hard for them definitely, but it means then others play 30 minutes and stuff like this, or even maybe 20 minutes and these kinds of things”

Apart from the pair, Liverpool could also welcome their star centre-back Virgil Van Dijk for the game on Thursday while Joe Gomez could also return early next month, as Jurgen Klopp looks to bring back several first-team stars back into the starting line-up from injuries and international duty.

Diogo Jota could re-join Liverpool training this week after returning from injury.
