In some positive news for Liverpool, U-18 prospect Conor Bradley has signed a new long-term contract with the Anfield outfit, committing his future to the club.
Celebrating his new contract extension on Instagram, Bradley wrote:
‘Proud to sign a new contract with @LiverpoolFC, the hard work continues’.
Despite interest from Manchester United & Chelsea, Bradley joined the Reds two years ago on an initial scholarship deal. The youngster was rewarded with a first professional contract last summer
, thanks to a positive first season with the Reds’ U-18 side.Bradley spent most of last season under Lewis Bate’s U-23 squad, where he excelled in the right-back role while he also scored his first Premier League 2 goal against West Ham United in March.
Soon, Jurgen Klopp called up the youngster to the senior team training, which was a huge deal for Bradley. The youngster was also a crucial part of Marc-Bridge Wilkinson’s U-18 side that reached the FA Youth Cup final.
The Northern Irishman has featured for the senior team at right-back in the club’s pre-season games, quite notably in our friendly win against Stuttgart. Things have been looking up for Bradley in recent months as he also made his international debut for Northern Ireland, when he came on as a substitute for Stuart Dallas in a 3-0 victory against Malta.
If Neco Williams does leave Anfield this summer, Bradley could potentially deputise for Trent-Alexander Arnold in Jurgen Klopp’s squad. If Bradley does make the step up and plays a competitive game for the Reds this season, he would become the first Northern Irishman in 67 years to don the Liverpool jersey since Sammy Smyth in 1954
