The inaugural version of the LGBTQ+ Business awards, which will take place in October, will provide the North West region to commemorate and celebrate the incredible achievements of the LGBTQ+ community in the business sector while also recognising their contribution to the North West region’s economy.
Liverpool are big supporters of this cause as they also decided earlier this month that they will host a variety of Pride-themed activities across the club, including
an inclusive football tournament, a ‘Careers Uncovered’ event with guests from the LGBT+ community including former professional rugby league player Keegan Hirst; Pride-themed sessions in 40 local schools and participation in LCR Pride Foundation’s virtual Pride march. This year, the LCR Pride Foundation’s annual theme is ‘From Now On’. The Pride March which is set to be a virtual event this year will be broadcast from LCR Pride Foundations’ YouTube channel at 12Pm BST on July 31.
LFC’s Pride activities will also include
training for its employees, engagement with LFC Women Supporter’s Committee and Kop Outs, and continued work with the club’s own LGBT+ employee network throughout the month.Senior ED&I manager at LFC, Rishi Jain, said:
“We are delighted to be the headline sponsor of the new North West LGBTQ+ Business Awards.
“It’s so important for us as a club through our Red Together work to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion across everything that we do”.
Merseyside businessman and founder of the North West LGBTQ+ Business Awards, Drew Cockton, also talked about the club’s inclusion in this event:
“I am delighted that Liverpool Football Club is leading by example when it comes to diversity and inclusion. Our city and region need this support now more than ever.”
