Liverpool interested in a move for Real Madrid star Isco
According to Fichajes, via Anfield watch (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are eyeing a deal for Spanish star Isco with Real Madrid ready to let go of the midfielder this summer.
This is not the first time the Reds have tried to lure the player to Anfield after they saw their £47million bid rejected by Real Madrid in January. However, Liverpool’s need to sign the player has intensified in the last 6 months due to some of their outgoings.
The Reds have lost Gini Wijnaldum from their midfield line this summer, while the club are also ready to let go of Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri. Thus, Isco would be a perfect signing as he can play in the midfield and on the wings, depending on how Jurgen Klopp shapes his system.
Isco, who was a vital part of Real Madrid’s triad of Champions League victories from 2016-2018, has struggled for game time in the last two seasons, with the player barely managing 1000 La Liga minutes last year.
The midfielder supposedly made it clear to the Madrid hierarchy of his ambition to leave the club in January itself but after failing to move in the winter transfer window, Isco could edge closer to an exit this summer.
Liverpool did lack creativity from midfield last season, something Isco could certainly help with. However, the Reds are not the only club to be linked with the player as three other unnamed clubs are also in the race to sign the Real Madrid midfielder.
Liverpool are making an active effort to strengthening every area on the pitch as they hope to compete for the biggest trophies again this season.
