Transfer boost for Liverpool as Christoph Baumgartner does not rule out move to another club this summer
Liverpool have been on the search for a midfielder this summer and the Reds have now received a big transfer boost as midfielder Christoph Baumgartner has failed to rule out a move this summer.
Baumgartner, who impressed in the Bundesliga with Hoffenheim last season, was continuously linked with the Reds this summer as Liverpool look to add quality midfield depth to their squad.
Talking to Sport1 (h/t The Mirror), the midfielder was asked about rumours linking him with a move away, to which he responded.
“It is, of course, better if there are positive rumours instead of negative ones”
The midfielder also explained how he is comfortable but agreed that he cannot rule out a move this summer.
“But I feel very comfortable here and can develop well here. In football, you can never say 1000 percent of what happens within a few months – but I am very happy here and see a great opportunity here to develop myself and the team.”
Why are Liverpool targeting Christoph Baumgartner?
The Reds, who recently lost Gini Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain, are looking to beef up their midfield with quality additions. Baumgartner scored 6 goals in 31 appearances last season, and the midfielder has been tipped for a move to a bigger club in the future, courtesy of which Liverpool joined the race to sign the midfielder.
At 21, Baumgartner could really develop under a manager like Klopp and could also develop into a starter for the Reds.
Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Saul Niguez and Franck Kessie, as Jurgen Klopp looks to add midfield reinforcements, with Liverpool ready to fight for the Premier League title again this season.
