Liverpool eager to sign Dusan Vlahovic but face competition from Tottenham

Liverpool are keen on signing Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina this summer but the Reds will now face competition from Spurs for the forward who is said to be valued at above £40 million by the Italian outfit.

Jurgen Klopp has been interested in signing a forward this summer, especially since Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino only managed to score 18 Premier League goals between them last season.

Although Diogo Jota was signed last summer, Klopp might have to sign more reinforcements in the attack, and Dusan Vlahovic certainly fits the bill for that. The Fiorentina forward was sensational last season as he scored 21 goals in 37 appearances as he helped the club finish 13th in Serie A.

Vlahovic has not lost his touch over the summer, something he proved by scoring 7 goals in 34 minutes in a pre-season game against Serie D side Foligno.

At 21, Vlahovic is yet to really hit his stride, and Liverpool feel that he could certainly do so under a manager like Jurgen Klopp. However, signing the striker may not be so simple as English rivals Tottenham have also joined the race to sign the Serbian striker.

Tottenham are looking to bolster their options this summer as they face the prospect of losing star centre-forward Harry Kane to Manchester City.

An advantage the Reds do have is that they can offer Vlahovic the prospect of Champions League football, something Tottenham cannot do as they finished 8th in the Premier League last season.

Liverpool would want to be firing on cylinders next season, and if they do end up signing Dusan Vlahovic, it could be an incredible coup for the Merseyside club.
