Aaron Ramsey could be on his way to Liverpool as Juventus look to get the Welshman off their books
According to Talksport via HITC (h/t Liverpool Echo), Aaron Ramsey could be on his way to Liverpool this summer as the Reds continue their prolonged search for a midfielder.
With Gini Wijnaldum leaving Liverpool earlier in June, Liverpool have intensified their search for a central midfielder. This has led to the club targeting Aaron Ramsey, who, unlike other targets, has the experience of playing in the Premier League.
The 30-year-old Welshman joined Juventus on a free transfer in 2019, after spending nearly a decade at Arsenal. Ramsey only made 22 league appearances for Juventus last season, and given the managerial shift at the club, he could suffer for game time this season.
Juventus, on the other hand, are also trying to sign the likes of Miralem Pjanic and Manuel Locatelli this summer, paving the way for Aaron Ramsey to leave the club, and given that the Italian club want the Welshman off their wage books, this move could work out well for all parties concerned.
Liverpool’s search of a midfielder has seen them being linked with Lille’s Renato Sanches, Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez, Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli, and Manchester United’s Paul Pogba. However, with Ramsey having vast experience of playing in the English league, Liverpool would be better off edging towards the former Arsenal man.
Arsenal legend Ray Parlour also believes that the midfielder would be an ideal signing for Jurgen Klopp.
In an interview with Talksport (h/t Liverpool Echo), Parlour said:
“Exactly (Liverpool need to find a replacement for Wijnaldum), and he would score you goals from midfield.”
Liverpool will be in the hunt for the Premier League again this season, and with a player like Aaron Ramsey in their ranks, the Reds could really fire on all fronts.
