Liverpool need to add another goalscorer for title challenge warns Carragher
Liverpool made a quickfire start to the summer transfer window, sealing the signing of Ibrahima Konate very early. However, it has been all quiet since at Anfield as far as incomings go.
And, former defender and club legend Jamie Carragher has insisted that Liverpool will need to add another potent goalscorer to their midst if they are to challenge Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea for the title.
“If we didn’t bring in another addition it may be difficult to knock Man City off the top, and let’s not forget Chelsea, the European champions, and Manchester United, who have had a great window with (Raphael) Varane and (Jadon) Sancho.
“I’d like to see someone who could get goals, whether that’s from midfield or part of the front three. I am just wary a little bit with Liverpool, after last season going into this season, as to whether there are enough goals in the team for them to go and win the title.”
Carragher did add that he expected much better goal output from Sadio Mane after he endured a difficult 2020/21 campaign.
“But I am expecting a big season from (Sadio) Mane. He didn’t have his best season [in 2020-21] but he’s looking really sharp in pre-season, hopefully he can be the guy who can plug that gap in terms of goals.”

Both Roberto Firmino and Mane were not up to scratch last season. And with the likes of Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri not in the plans, another goalscoring forward is a must for Liverpool.
