Transfer News: Aston Villa to rival Liverpool for Mikkel Damsgaard

According to transfer news from Birmingham Live, Aston Villa are set to rival Liverpool for the signing of Mikkel Damsgaard. The Sampdoria starlet could be pursued by Villa if they lose Jack Grealish to Manchester City. The Englishman has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer.

Denmark were arguably the favourite side for the neutrals in the Euros. From losing one of their best players to making it straight to the semi-finals, they showed grit and determination. There were definitely a lot of heroes and among them was a young Mikkel Damsgaard who showed that he belonged at the biggest of stages.

Two goals and an assist, including a stunning free-kick against England, made sure the world took notice of this 21-year-old. Prior to the tournament, the youngster’s growing reputation in his homeland was enough to prompt Sampdoria to offer him a route to Italy last summer. Damsgaard enjoyed a promising start to life in Serie A with two goals and four assists in 35 games.

Damsgaard is in demand currently with sides like Spurs and Liverpool after him. However, Aston Villa have made their interest known as well. They are likely to go after the Dane if Grealish does end up departing for Man City over the summer transfer window. Damsgaard is valued at a healthy £35m by Sampdoria.

Stan Collymore shared a transfer shortlist for Liverpool that features Jack Grealish, Ansu Fati, Erling Haaland, and Myron Boadu.
