Writing in his article for HorseRacing.net (h/t Express) Steve Mcmanaman has urged Liverpool to sign Adama Traore from Wolves this summer. The former Red suggests that the club should go for him if they can’t get their primary targets.
McManaman suggests that the 25-year-old Spanish international could bring something different to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
“I think Liverpool could do with a different type of player from what they have currently and Adama Traore can bring something different. He’s a wide player who wants to go round the outside of defenders, he wants to get crosses in from the byline and I think that would help Liverpool if ‘plan A’ wasn’t working for them.”
However, he adds that Liverpool should not overpay for him, while claiming that Traore is someone who could boost the squad, not particularly be in the starting eleven.
“I think that type of player would be a good option to bolster Liverpool’s squad, but I wouldn’t want to pay a lot of money for him.”
Adama Traore is one of the trickiest players in the Premier League. Ever since joining Wolves, he has been a tough one to figure out for many defenders.
If played with Sadio Mane and Mo Salah, Traore could add a whole new dimension to this Liverpool attacking unit. He can hold the ball up and carry it up the field through his dribbling.
Mane, Salah and Traore could be the last three players that any teams want to face during a counterattack. The pace could seem near impossible to defend.
Traore can also be used as a super-sub for either Mane or Salah. Bringing someone like the Spanish international in the latter stages of the game when defenders are tiring out could be a big weapon for Jurgen Klopp & co.
