Transfer News: Liverpool told Jeremy Doku price tag

Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has provided an update to Anfield Central (h/t Liverpool Echo) regarding Jeremy Doku and his situation at Rennes amid transfer interest from Liverpool.

The Reds have been in contact with the player’s agent which could significantly fasten any potential deal if Liverpool were to step up their interest in the Belgian winger.

Tavolieri claims that the player is happy at Rennes, the club he joined from Anderlecht last year. But he also added that the 19-year-old ‘loves Liverpool’, which is a boost for the Reds if they want to sign the player.

Jeremy Doku would make for an exciting long-term successor for Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.

“The player is really happy in Rennes for the moment, but loves Liverpool and Liverpool loves [him] too. The agency of Jeremy Doku has already been in contact with Liverpool. They know each other, so if they want to go further it could go pretty quickly.”

However, the journalist then added that Rennes are not going to let the player leave for cheap, and that the Reds would have to part ways with at least €50million in exchange for the teenager.

“If Liverpool wants Doku, they are going to pay minimum of €50m because Rennes is not ready to let the player go for the moment.”

Doku has talked about prior interest from Liverpool. In an interview with Ouest-France (h/t Liverpool Echo), he mentioned that Chelsea, Arsenal, and the Reds were all keen on signing him when he was close to turning 16.
