Liverpool star Sadio Mane sets targets for the season after disappointment last time
According to Metro, Liverpool star Sadio Mane has set some ambitious targets for this season. He wants to help Liverpool with his goals after a disappointing season last time around as they slumped to a third-place finish and without any trophies.
It was quite the uncharacteristic season for Liverpool. The side was ravaged with injuries through the campaign and a slew of losses over the new year meant that there was a real risk of missing out on the Champions League. While most of the players performed decently, it was a certain Sadio Mane that fell below expectations.
It’s not that the 29-year-old had a poor season but given his previous high standards, it felt like he was underperforming. His 11 Premier League goals were the second-lowest of his Liverpool career so far. Apart from that, his assists tally remained as usual. Mane has already started the season with a goal.
And, the Senegalese forward has now set ambitious goals for himself which he thinks will help Liverpool to get back to their best. He also admitted that the last season was not good enough for him and the club.
‘I want to score goals, and set up teammates, even to score 30 goals. I was so disappointed with last season, and passionately so, as I thought I could have done more. Whereas I might have been scoring between 18 and 22 goals a season, then on that occasion it was no longer the case so, of course, I was going to be disappointed.’

Liverpool have had a good start to the season with two wins and a draw. While they may not have splurged in the market, the squad is still in good shape if there are no injury debacles like last season. The Reds will be hoping that Mane can fulfil those targets he has set or at least get close.
