Liverpool are eyeing a deal to sign Franck Kessie next year
According to Mirror, Liverpool are ready to fight for a deal to sign Franck Kessie next year amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain.
The Ivorian has entered into the final year of his contract and could be available on a free transfer next year. There had been a lot of rumours swirling around about the future of Kessie this past summer. But, he put them to rest by saying (h/t Mirror):
“I’m proud to have chosen Milan, and it’s not my intention to leave. Indeed, I want to stay forever. The club has always known that my will is to stay with the Rossoneri. An important season awaits us”.
While that was the case earlier this summer, the 24-year-old could walk away for nothing next year as he as rejected a contract extension worth €6.5million a year from the Italian outfit, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Mirror).
The Ivorian is said to be demanding €8million plus €2million in bonuses if he is to sign a new contract, something PSG are willing to provide the midfielder.
Liverpool, who lost the services of Gini Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer, possess the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Curtis Jones, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Harvey Elliot, and Naby Keita in the midfield line. However, Jurgen Klopp could boost his numbers in midfield, especially after he faced injury problems with Thiago and Henderson last year.

Moreover, given that both the aforementioned players are above the age of 30, Kessie could add a more youthful exuberance. Kessie managed to score 13 goals in 37 appearances last year and has valuable Serie A experience.
Thus, the 24-year-old could be a great addition to the Anfield outfit but it remains to be seen whether the Merseyside club are ready to pay the midfielder’s contract demands next summer.
