Liverpool are ‘pressing’ ahead with a new deal for 29-year-old superstar

Liverpool are on the right course to complete a new deal for Mohamed Salah

According to the Liverpool Echo (h/t Express), Liverpool are moving ahead in the right direction to complete a new deal for Mohamed Salah.

Michael Edwards, who is the Anfield outfit’s sporting director, has not brokered a lot of deals this year as the Reds made only a single addition to their squad – Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig.

However, after that, the club did not signed a single player, but they have strengthened in different ways. The Merseyside club handed out new deals

to several of their players to ensure they remain at the club in the future.

Deals for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Alisson Becker & Jordan Henderson have been completed with each of them committing their future to the club.

The next name on this list is the club’s goal-scoring star in Mo Salah. The Reds are keen on rewarding the Egyptian winger with an improved contract for his glorious performances since his arrival in 2017.

Salah scored 31 goals in all competitions last season as he helped an injury-ridden Liverpool finish 3rd in the Premier League table. Moreover, the 29-year-old has been a vital part of the club winning the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League in the last 3 years.

With his contract ending in 2023, the Reds are prepared to extend it, and talks are heading in a positive direction. Conversations between the players’ agents and the club were said to be stalled earlier because Salah was apparently demanding half a million in wages.

However, according to the Liverpool Echo (h/t Express), there has been no such demand, but the winger will earn more than his current salary of £200,000-per-week. While that is the case, only time will tell if the 29-year-old does agree to a new deal.
