Transfer News: Liverpool turned down an offer to sing Florian Neuhaus this summer
According to Mirror via Anfield Watch (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool turned down a chance to sign Florian Neuhaus from Borussia Monchengladbach this summer. Liverpool made only a single signing this summer in Ibrahim Konate from RB Leipzig and were unable to add any new names in attacking third.
Liverpool did have a chance to sign a new midfielder this summer. German club Borussia Monchengladbach offered the Reds an opportunity to sign 24-year-old Florian Neuhaus for £21million– an offer which was reportedly turned down by the Reds.
Liverpool, rather than signing a new midfielder, tied down their club captain Jordan Henderson on a long-term contract. The player is now contracted to the club until 2025. The club also tied first-team players Andy Robertson, Alisson Becker, Fabinho & Trent Alexander-Arnold on long term deal.
However, the club saw their key midfielder Gini Wijnaldum move to Paris Saint Germain this summer as the player decided not to extend his contract in June and parted ways after a successful spell. Despite the departure of a key midfielder, Liverpool failed to sign a replacement during this window.
Liverpool already have midfielders injured early in the season. James Milner is set to miss out on a return to his home town of Leeds in the next Premier League game. Japanese international Takumi Minamino is also on Liverpool’s injury list. The player received a knock in the training with the National team and will be unavailable for the next game.

Liverpool are back in action on 12th September against Leeds United. They have started the season in fine form and are unbeaten in their opening three fixtures. However, they could face a stern test against Leeds with a few of their key players doubtful for the game.
It remains to be seen whether the lack of signing could prove to be damaging for the Reds, or if they have enough backing and quality in place to continue their pursuit of Premier League title this season.
