Liverpool firm in their stance despite FIFA banning Reds’ Brazilian trio vs Leeds

Liverpool have been informed Alisson, Firmino and Fabinho cannot play vs Leeds United in the Premier League

According to Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are insistent that the Brazilian trio of Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino should be allowed to play this weekend despite being banned by FIFA.

Liverpool and the English FA had been informed that Alisson Becker, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino cannot play in the upcoming Premier League fixture against Leeds United. The Reds refused to allow the Brazilian players to travel for international duty citing quarantine rules imposed by UK Government.

Roberto Firmino, Alisson & Fabinho are banned by FIFA.

In response, the Brazilian FA backed by FIFA has invoked a five-day ban for the trio of Liverpool players. This period of the ban will come to play from 10th to 14 September after Brazil’s last qualifiers against Peru. Roberto Firmino, Alisson & Fabinho in this aftermath will miss the game against Leeds on Sunday.

However, the trio will be available for their opener in the UEFA Champions League fixture against AC Milan next Wednesday. Liverpool are understood to have been working on the issue with the FA and find a solution to the current situation which hampers the club’s interest in failing to have their key player available for important fixtures.

FIFA regulation states that if the club is to ignore the ban, it will result in the team forfeiting the game by 3-0. This could get tricky as Leeds themselves have their key player, Raphinha, missing due to the ban.

Fabinho along with his teammates Firmino & Alisson are expected to be called up by Brazil boss Tite next month for Qualifiers.

Brazilian boss Tite will call up his players from the Premier League for next month’s qualifiers. Thus suggesting a similar situation to unfold next month if no solutions are made available before the clubs and national FA’s.

Whether FIFA takes further action against Liverpool for their stance or not remains to be seen.
