Transfer News: Liverpool are eyeing up transfer move for Karim Adeyemi
According to Transfermarkt via Daily Star (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are considering making a move for Karim Adeyemi from RB Salzburg in January.
The Reds had a quiet summer transfer window failing to add reinforcements in the attacking front, and have now turned their attention towards Adeyemi. However, they will be competing against Barcelona who themselves are looking to rebuild after Lionel Messi’s departure.
The only signing Liverpool made this summer was a defensive one in Ibrahim Konate from RB Leipzig. However, the Reds did not bring in an attacker during that time. But Liverpool are considering making early moves when the next window opens up and have eyed Adeyemi as their target.
The young German striker has burst into form this season scoring 6 goals in 6 matches in the Austrian Bundesliga. The 19-year old teenager recently featured for the German national team against Armenia in World Cup qualifiers, and he even managed to score late in the game for his team in a 6-0 victory.
Liverpool have an attacking front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, and they have a possible replacement for those three in Diogo Jota. Firmino is already sidelined due to an injury for the time being. But if Liverpool are to miss out on Salah or Mane due to any reason, they will run out of options and could be forced to play other players out of positions.
If Liverpool are to contest for the League title this season, it is evident they need back-up and necessary reinforcement, which they would be able to get in January. However, it remains to be seen whether the club does make a move for Adeyemi this winter or if they ride their luck with what they have at their disposal.
