Transfer News: Jurgen Klopp has requested Liverpool to sign French striker Amine Gouiri from Nice

According to transfer news from Fichajes.net (Liverpool Echo), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp himself has made a direct request to the club to sign OGC Nice forward Amine Gouiri.

The Reds failed to sign any major attacking player this summer transfer window. But, they now seem to be considering adding a new attacker in the summer next year, with Gouiri emerging as a target.

The 21-year old forward scored a total of 16 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions for Nice last term after arriving from Lyon, while also providing eight assists to his teammates. However, despite the player’s efforts Nice finished 9th in the Ligue 1 table last campaign and missed out on European football by seven points.

Gouiri has started off this season well, having netted 4 goals in the first four games in the French league. And recent reports suggests that Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp himself has handed in a direct request to the club to sign the 21-year old French forward.

Liverpool have a formidable attacking trident of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah & Sadio Mane. But they have only Diogo Jota as a reliable backup. Furthermore, Firmino’s form has been dwindling over the past year or so, warranting the addition of another striker.

Gouiri, to that end, can be an option worth looking at considering his impressive form for Nice since last year.

Liverpool were without their star striker Firmino against Leeds, but did get the job done at Elland Road. A 3-0 victory secured all three points for the Reds. After seeing off Leeds in the Premier League, Klopp’s team will focus on the Champions League next, as they host Italian giants AC Milan at Anfield in the opening fixture.
