Liverpool give update on Naby Keita after sustaining injury in the Carabao Cup tie vs Norwich

According to the post-match interview in the Carabao Cup clash against Norwich (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool’s Naby Keita had to be subbed off in the early stages of the game due to an injury, but Jurgen Klopp has revealed that it isn’t too serious.

Liverpool featured a relatively young side in their latest match against Norwich. This was also a chance for some of the fringe players to get quality game time. The 26-year-old midfielder would have looked to make an impact but had to be subbed off after he kicked the ground in an attempt to play through ball early in the game.

The Liverpool boss confirmed that the injury isn’t very grave. This could be a great relief to the management as Keita has struggled with injury issues ever since his arrival at Anfield. The former RB Salzburg player’s injury was the only major concern after the game.

The manager has assured everyone that there isn’t much to worry about and went on to say:

“At half-time we had to change because Naby had kicked the grass, and it was a little uncomfortable, but we are not too concerned.”

Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi got on the scoresheet for Liverpool. The Merseyside team got off to a shaky start but slowly gained momentum in the fixture. They managed to keep a clean sheet in the game and emerged with a 3-0 victory against the Canaries.

The German manager was also pleased with the way his relatively young squad reacted to the challenge. He went on to praise the team performance:

“The last line and the goalies saved us in these moments with speed and good challenges, so there wasn’t really much in it for Norwich. We scored a really good goal again from a set-piece, second ball, massive.”

The Reds won the match comfortably in the end. The Guinean international should be back in contention really soon but the club wouldn’t want to ride their luck due to his experience with injuries in the past.
