Norwegian star striker Erling Haaland open to leaving Borussia Dortmund in favour of Liverpool move

According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Mirror), Erling Haaland could be open to the possibility of leaving Borussia Dortmund for Liverpool.

The 21-year-old striker is one of the most sought-after players in Europe right now. His €90million (£77m) release clause gets activated next summer and could result in a crazy battle to secure his services.

Liverpool are one of the clubs that the youngster would be open to joining in the near future. The former RB Salzburg striker has already scored eight goals and provided three assists in all competition for Dortmund this season.

The Reds will face tough competition from other clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool were relatively quiet in the last transfer window. They were focused on giving long-term contracts to their core players like Trent Alexander Arnold, Fabinho, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.

With the main players of the team secured for a longer future, the Reds would be looking to make significant purchases in the coming transfer windows. And, Haaland could be a great future investment for the club at the tender age of 21.

Haaland has been on the radar of several European giants ever since his RB Salzburg days

The player has become an integral part of his Borussia Dortmund team. He has scored 68 goals in 67 appearances for the club in all competitions for the German club. His tally of 27 goals in 28 Bundesliga games last season played a big role in Dortmund’s progress. Andre Silva and Robert Lewandowski were the only players who had a better scoring record in the German League last season.

The Norwegian striker could be a great addition to the Merseyside club. Roberto Firmino’s performances over the last season has declined considerably. Haaland’s inclusion could not only bolster but also create a healthier competitive environment for the other attackers.

The report also suggests that the former Molde player would like to earn close to £25.5million per season which is more than double that of Virgil van Dijk who is currently the highest earner at Liverpool.

This would make any move a considerably expensive affair for the management and also disturb the wages bill of the club.
