Glen Johnson has placed Luis Suarez ahead of Mohamed Salah in his list of top Liverpool players
In conversation with BettingOdds.com (h/t Liverpool Echo), former Glen Johnson highlighted why he puts Luis Suarez ahead of Mohamed Salah in his list of top Liverpool players during the Premier League era.
The Egyptian forward has cemented his place as one of the best-attacking players in the world after constantly churning out goals and assists for Liverpool ever since he made the switch to Anfield from AS Roma in 2017.
Johnson clarified his views on the Egyptian and Uruguyan respectively
“Mo deserves all the credit he’s getting as he’s a goal machine and he works his socks off. He’s bounced back really well from his time at Chelsea so he deserves all the credit that comes his way. If I had to choose who Liverpool’s best player of the Premier League era is then I’d have to go with Luis Suarez. The reason why is because I knew him and I knew what he was capable of doing.”
Luis Suarez’s footballing achievements till now
Luis Suarez was another stellar player who scored some exquisite goals for the Reds. He was part of the team under Brendan Rodgers that nearly won the Premier League back in 2014. The former Ajax player scored 69 goals and provided 23 assists in 110 PL appearances for the Anfield outfit.
The Reds sold Suarez for an astronomical sum to the Catalan giants when Rodgers was in charge. He went on to win the La Liga, UEFA Champions League, Copa Del Rey, UEFA Super Cup, and Spanish Super Cup with the Spanish giants. The 34-year-old striker is still going strong in La Liga after he made the move to the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium after being released from Barcelona.
Mohamed Salah’s exploits with Liverpool
Mohamed Salah has gone on to become a living legend at Liverpool as he has played an instrumental part in the Merseyside team’s rise to the top. The club have won the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and much coveted Premier League after he made the switch to the red part of Merseyside.
The 29-year-old forward has gone on to score 103 goals and provide 34 assists for the Reds in 165 PL appearances for the club. The former Basel player has gone on to become an essential part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans and has proven to be a dependable goalscorer over the last few years.
