Report: Liverpool claim to have ‘Substantial evidence’ in alleged spitting allegation by Man City staff

Liverpool have substantial evidence in the spitting allegation by Manchester City staff in their latest Premier League clash

According to an official spokesperson of the club (h/t Independent), Liverpool have gathered enough evidence in the spitting allegations that were levelled against a fan in their latest Premier League fixture against Manchester City.

Liverpool and Man City have become heated rivals in the past few seasons and both the coaches share a mutual respect for one another. Both teams have pushed each other to the brink and forced the clubs to perform at consistent levels across different competitions.

The Liverpool spokesperson shared light on the incident that took place at Anfield last weekend:

“Following a complaint of a serious alleged incident near the dugout area at Anfield during the second half of Sunday’s game against Manchester City, we are conducting a full investigation, working with all relevant parties including Manchester City, to gather evidence from individuals who witnessed the incident as well as analysing all available video footage. The evidence collected to date is substantial and, if requested to do so, will be handed to Merseyside Police given the potential for criminal charges”

The on-field rivalry has not only been an exciting affair but has also proven to be a great watch for neutral fans all across the world. The world witnessed some of that magic on Sunday when the Citizens and the Reds went toe to toe on the pitch.

After a cagey performance in the first half, Liverpool came out of their shell and scored a well-crafted goal from Sadio Mane. City pegged back the match when Phil Foden buried it in the back of Alisson Becker’s net. Arguably the best goal of the match came when Mohamed Salah tiptoed in the City box to find the back of the net after some great movement.

Kevin De Bruyne then scored the equaliser late in normal time to earn a point for Man City. The game was a marvellous spectacle but tarnished by the allegations that a fan had allegedly spat on a back-room staff member of the Citizens.
