Transfer News: Liverpool set to lodge inquiries for Olympiacos ace Mady Camara
According to Greek paper Sportime (h/t The Express), Liverpool are interested in procuring a deal for Olympiacos star Mady Camara.
A Liverpool scout was present for the Greek outfit’s game against Fenerbahce in the Europa League game in mid-week. Olympiacos prevailed victoriously and won the game 3-0 on the night.
However, one player who caught the eye of the Liverpool representative in attendance was Camara. The midfielder joined the Greek club back in 2018 and has since gone on to make 143 appearances across all competitions in the last three seasons.
In the same period, the Guinean has racked up 19 goals and a further 12 assists from central midfield. The Liverpool scout was so impressed with the midfielder’s performances last Thursday that he inquired about the player.
The Reds could add another central midfielder to their squad, especially following Gini Wijnaldum’s departure to join Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer. Moreover, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Thiago Alcantara are in their thirties and are not getting any younger.
Camara could inject some much-needed youthful blood into the Reds’ midfield. Although Harvey Elliot and Curtis Jones have been introduced into the first team over the last couple of years, competition within the ranks always helps to boost the quality in the squad.

Moreover, the Anfield outfit have also received a boost as they are the only English team that are interested in the midfielder. In fact, their relations with the club are also good as they completed a move for Kostas Tsimikas last summer.
Thus, a move could be on the cards, but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool convert their interest into a formalized offer for the 24-year-old. The Reds have beaten their rivals to some real gems in recent transfer windows. Whether Camaraa is another one on the list remains to be seen.
