Liverpool intensify contact with Wolverhampton Wanderers for Adama Traore

According to El Nacional (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers are ‘intensifying contacts’ to reach an agreement for Adama Traore. Both clubs could be looking to reach an agreement ahead of the January transfer window.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to revitalise the squad and Traore could meet that purpose. The Spaniard would also be interested in joining the Merseyside club if an offer was presented.

Blessed with physique and ability, Traore if nurtured well can become an overwhelming force in attack. Joining Liverpool could see him take his game to the next level.

Traore is arguably the dribbling king of the Premier League. He was the only player to complete 100+ dribbles in the league last season. Unsurprisingly, he also leads the category this season with 49 dribbles in just seven league matches.

The Spain international’s goal involvement is a different matter as he is yet to score or assist this season. Once he can add that to his repertoire, he will certainly be counted among the most feared attackers in the game.

Getting the best out of a promising winger is something Jurgen Klopp excels at. Saio Mane and Mohamed Salah went from being good players to world-class superstars at Liverpool under his tutelage.

Diogo Jota too has shown signs of evolution and has improved his goal-scoring tally since moving to Anfield. There is no reason to believe Traore cannot do the same.

One thing to note is that stats should always be used with appropriate context. The lack of goal output from the winger could be due to multiple reasons. Klopp can get the most out of his players.

A move to Anfield could be a win-win for both Liverpool and Traore. At 25, he is well placed to take the next step in his development and there are few clubs better than Liverpool to aid him in it.
