Transfer News: Liverpool to battle Barcelona for Franck Kessie
According to El Nacional (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are preparing an offer for AC Milan star Franck Kessie whose contract at the club expires next summer.
The Reds, however, face competition from Barcelona who are also interested in signing the midfielder. With the financial issues that are affecting the Blaugrana, it is no wonder why they are trying to sign Kessie as he would be a free transfer.
The report states that Barca will offer Kessie a €15 million signing bonus. The amount pales in comparison to the Merseyside club’s offer of €30 million. With a much better signing bonus on offer, Liverpool hopes to attract the interest of the 24-year-old.
The Spanish club is also lacking in terms of its sporting project at the moment. Their losses against Atletico Madrid and S.L. Benfica are evident in that regard.
The English club, on the other hand, is on course to compete for all possible titles this season. The variables favour Liverpool in all areas and Kessie has little reason to choose otherwise

The Ivory Coast midfielder can sign a pre-contract agreement in January 2022 as his contract is set to expire in the summer.
Kessie would be a fine addition to the Liverpool midfield. With Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara and James Milner in their thirties, the midfield is in rich need of an infusion of youth.
