Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp certain that Mohamed Salah is on top of the world after Watford masterclass
According to BT Sport (h/t The Metro), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes there is no better player in the world today than Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian wizard lit up Vicarage Road in a sensational performance that saw the Red run out 5-0 winners. He scored once on the night and played his role in what was ultimately a mauling. The win took Liverpool to the summit of the Premier League table.
Salah provided the assist for Sadio Mane’s opener on the night. The goal was a landmark one for the Senegalese as he joins the 100 goals club of African players. Alongside Salah and Didier Drogba, he is just one of three elite members.
Speaking after the game, Klopp hailed his ace attacker revealing in no uncertain terms that there is no better performer in world football today.
“Come on, who is better than him at the moment? There is nobody better – that is clear.”
If anyone had any doubts regarding Klopp’s statement, all they have to do is check out Salah’s goal on the night. He left a shell shocked Watford defence in his wake and curled in a far corner attempt that left Klopp stunned on the sidelines.
The German is least concerned about what elite players have done in the past. He prefers to live in the present and has a clear choice when it comes to being the best in the world.
“We don’t have to talk about what Messi and Ronaldo have done for world football and their dominance. But right now, he is the best.”
The best is yet to come?
Klopp also appears to have conceded that Salah can still improve. At 29, he is already at his peak and it remains to be seen just how much higher he can go.
“He’s been at this level for a while. He’s at an age where you can improve.”
With Atletico Madrid and Manchester United to come, Salah has two stages to showcase to the world at large that Klopp’s statement is the truth. The Egyptian does not shrink away from a challenge and should be up for the upcoming games.

It is not every day that the hat-trick hero of the night is not the standout player. Roberto Firmino discovered that today. The consummate team player, the Brazilian will care for little given the result.
Salah’s goal was his 104th in the Premier League. He is now joint top with Drogba as the highest-scoring African player in the Premier League.
