Mohamed Salah sets a new goal scoring record for Liverpool after scoring a double in the 3-2 win against Atletico Madrid

According to the Independent, Mohamed Salah has achieved a record for Liverpool after scoring in their win against Atletico Madrid. Salah scored a double in their 3-2 win away from home in the Champions League.

The Egyptian became the first player in the club’s history to score in nine consecutive games. His double on the night saw the Reds edge Atletico by a narrow margin in what was a tightly contested match.

Salah scored the winner after dispatching a penalty that was awarded following Mario Hermoso’s foul on Diogo Jota. This saw the Egyptian get his 12th goal of the season in just his eleventh matches. He also had four assists during that period.

This win saw the Reds lead the group with nine points after winning all three matches. They have a comfortable lead over Atleti who is in second place with four points.

The 29-year-old is currently engaged in negotiations for a new contract with the Merseyside club. Looking at his current form, it is more than reasonable to think that he deserves a raise.

Earlier last weekend, the forward equalled Didier Drogba’s record by becoming the highest-scoring African player in the Premier League history.

Salah also overtook Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard as the club’s all-time top scorer in Europe. The Egyptian king went into the gamer level on goals with the former Reds skipper.

The double on the night has now seen him net 31 times for Liverpool in Europe. Given that he is still in his prime, that number will only get bigger.
