Liverpool show interest in signing Torino defender Gleison Bremer
According to Radio Italia (h/t LiverpoolEcho), Liverpool are keen on making a move for Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer after failing to lure him to Anfield last summer.
Last season, a spate of injuries in defence saw Jurgen Klopp desperate to sign a proper centre back who would add the required depth in the first-team squad. It was at that time they aimed for Bremer.
Though they were highly interested in the Brazilian, the Reds decided to go for Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak. The veteran coach used Kabak for a few matches to cover up the void left by injuries. But they both did not stay long and were shipped out earlier this summer.
Klopp has already complained about the busy schedule of the league that initiated Liverpool’s injury problems. As things stand, the signing of Ibrahima Konate has seen the club field four dependable centre backs.
Though Liverpool’s defensive unit is healthy and available this season, Klopp might want to avoid last season’s disaster by adding further depth to his squad.
Bremer has already featured in all the matches(8) except one in the Seria A for Torino FC. He has been one of the consistent players in the Seria A, missing only two games for health-related reasons in the past three years.
The 24-year-old also intends to change his current club as is yet to pen a new contract with the Italian club. His current contract will end in 2023 and the Italian club is keen to find new buyers for the player in the coming winter transfer window. They appear keen to avoid losing him on a free.

According to LiverpoolEcho, the Brazilian can cost around €15m (£12.6m). An investment that can give the Reds a defensive solidity and depth for a throwaway price.
But the task to lure the Center back to Anfield isn’t going to be easy because both the Milan giants, AC Milan and Inter Milan, are also interested in the player.
