Liverpool dressing room was buzzing after thrashing Manchester United
Liverpool assistant coach Pepijn Lijnders has revealed what happened after his team humbled Manchester United 5-0 on Sunday at Old Trafford. Mohammad Salah was at his mesmerizing best as his hat trick helped The Reds thrash 10-man Red Devils 5-0. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
Salah now has scored in 10 consecutive games in all competitions, something no Liverpool player has achieved this season, and the Egyptian has scored 14 times in that span.
Talking about the famous win, Lijnders said the entire Liverpool squad were vocal in their post-match celebrations and compared it to the jubilation that followed after their triumph over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night last week in the Champions League.
Lijnders, in a press conference, (h/t Liverpool Echo) said:
“You know at Atletico when they scored to make it 2-2, everybody who was there knows the sound of the stadium in Madrid. The sound in [our] dressing room was like in Madrid when they scored to make it 2-2!”
“I don’t know who bought the new speaker, but we have a new one and I think they could hear us in Liverpool! As the gaffer says, I don’t want to make it bigger. But it was a big one.”
Liverpool fans were also loud at the Theatre of Dreams as they chanted throughout the 90 minutes and United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was heavily mocked by them. Liverpool fans sang “Ole’s at the wheel” in jubilation, happy for his reign to continue.
Ole has always been under scrutiny since his appointment was made permanent at Manchester United. In three and a half years at the helm, he has still not won any silverware and despite adding Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane up his sleeves – United have struggled so far this season.
Liverpool will now look to carry their momentum into the Carabao Cup as they face Preston North End in the last 16 on Wednesday night.
