Mohamed Salah tipped to accept a new £425,000-a-week contract at Liverpool
According to the Liverpool Echo, Former Manchester City defender Danny Mills has tipped Mohamed Salah to accept a £425,000-a-week contract at Liverpool.
The Egyptian’s contract at Anfield runs out in the summer of 2023. Despite the day nearing closer, the club and player remain locked in negotiations regarding a new deal.
The contract negotiation between the Egyptian forward and Liverpool management has been going for some time now without any resolution. Based on the recent performances, the retention of such a pivotal player seems to be at the top of the Reds’ priority list.
The 29 years old forward has scored ten goals in 10 games this season, including a magnificent hat-trick against bitter rivals Manchester United. He continues to make a case as one of the finest players to grace the Premier League.
Despite the current standoff, Mills thinks both sides will soon be able to come to an agreement. If he is to be believed, Liverpool look set to make him the highest p[aid player in club history.
Negotiation tactics!
Mills has also suggested that anything more than the reported range seems unlikely as only a few clubs have the power to pay such lumpsum amounts.
“It will be fine. The fact that they’ve started to negotiate. Who is going to pay Mo Salah more than that? Paris Saint-Germain, that’s it. Unless he wants to go and play in the middle east or something.”
He has given his tip on what amount Salah’s agent, Ray Abbas Issa, should agree to ensure his client commit to the Merseyside giants. Mills adds that Salah’s retinue is just following the standard negotiation tactic where they demand more and settle for less.
“If you ask for £500,000-a-week and they offer £350,000-a-week there’s a good chance you’re going to end up on £425,000-a-week or maybe £400,000-a-week. That’s maybe where you wanted to be in the first place; it’s standard negotiations.”
He also suggested that coming to an agreeable term seems certain as the player also showed his interest to continue for the English club.
“He’s clearly happy; he said he wants to stay now it’s just a case of come on, get it done.”
While he was always a talented player, it was at Liverpool that Salah exploded into a world-class talent. He is clearly adored by his fans and teammates alike and there is little reason for him to look for a new challenge elsewhere.

Since moving to Anfield, the former Roma player has become privy to the discussion regarding who the best player in the world is. The partnership of the Mersyside team and the Egyptian forward has been profitable for both parties. It makes little sense to part ways now.
