Transfer News: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reveals admiration for Jarrod Bowen

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed his admiration for West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen.

The flying winger was linked with a summer switch to Anfield earlier in the year. However, it came to nothing and he stayed put in the English capital. Klopp’s side will go up against him when they take on West Ham later today.

An ever-present for David Moyes’s side, Bowen has notched up three goals and assists apiece in 16 appearances this season. The Irons have enjoyed a good start to the season and Liverpool will do well not to underestimate them.

Liverpool were linked with Bowen in the summer.

Speaking ahead of the game, Klopp admitted that he likes Bowen a lot. Whether this is a hint that the club is still keen on securing the 24-year-old’s signature remains to be seen.

“I like Bowen a lot.”

The Liverpool boss went on to praise the Englishman for his rise up the footballing ranks. His transfer to West Ham has been a calculated gamble for the Hammers that has so far paid off spectacularly.

“He made his way up from Hull and took not too long to show exactly what kind of player he can be in the Premier League. He made big steps.”

Apart from Jota, Liverpool lack dependable backups for their front three.

Watching a comparatively unheralded player join from Hull and then go on to set the Premier League alight has a familiar story to Liverpool fans.

Andrew Robertson enjoyed a similar career path before striking it rich at Anfield. Whether Bowen’s journey will also bring him to Merseyside remains to be seen.

Securing Bowen would be an excellent piece of business by Liverpool on two fronts. Not only will he add strength and depth in attack but also add to the club’s homegrown quota.

Whether a move for the 24-year-old is something that can be revisited in the future remains to be seen.
