This season the 22 years-old-player has started the hunt for goals scoring five goals in 13 games so far this season across all competitions for Real Sociedad.

Liverpool has an interest in signing a forward this winter window for vicarious reasons. Firstly, the Reds would have to play games in January with the absence of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané due to the African Cup of Nations.

Both the Liverpool strikers are closing the 30 year age mark, which can become a concern in later years, and they need to be prepared beforehand.

Injuries are part and parcel of every team’s performance concern, but it has been a source of significant disadvantage for Jurgen Klopp’s team in recent times.

Roberto Firmino suffered a hamstring blow and could miss at least four weeks. In such a case, the Reds needs to have a robust backup and depth in the team for the coming testing phase of the season.

It is believed that the Liverpool board are preparing for a £34m bid for the Sweden international. But the Swedish player has a couple of years in his contract, and his £90m release clause could become a problem for the Reds.

It seems the Reds are attempting to test the Spanish team’s nerves with a lower bid. But Arsenal’s interest in the player can spark a bidding war, and that could cause an increase in the player’s price.
