Egyptian FA assigned bodugyars to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah against Gabon

According to Liverpool Echo, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was assigned personal bodyguards by the Egyptian FA during Tuesday’s clash against Gabon.

The North African giants qualified for the 3rd stage of the World Cup qualifying process after becoming the table toppers of Group F. They will now face one of the nine qualified teams to progress further. They achieved this after a 2-1 victory over Gabon and a draw against Angola in the last two matches.

The Liverpool forward played the game against Angola last Friday. The match was interrupted three times after fans invaded the pitch to approach the Reds’ superstar.

The incident prompted the Egyptian FA to increase the security around the 29-year-old player. The FA arranged for two bodyguards to accompany Salah during the clash against Gabon.

When asked about the increased security, the FA explained that it was a measure to limit interaction to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

“The association wanted to ensure that no player is exposed to any kind of friction, especially in light of the spread of COVID-19.”

The Pharaohs FA also explained why Mohamed Salah was treated differently from any other player.

“The special interest that surrounded Salah was normal, especially after the game against Angola was stopped more than once because some fans wanted to take pictures with Salah, given his status as one of the world’s most prominent football stars.”

Salah only played the last 32 minutes against Gabon. Even though no spectators approached the Egyptian star in that game, he received three requests from opponent players for his shirt.

But Jurgen Klopp’s frontman refrained from sharing his shirt as he promised it to another player who wasn’t present in the ground.

Salah has become quite a icon in his home continent. Being one of the best player of recent times, it’s natural that he attracts such attention.
