According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Liverpoolecho), FC Barcelona could face financial difficulty in their pursuit of Liverpool target Karim Adeyemi.
The 19-year-old has become a heavy transfer target recently due to his electrifying form for Red Bull Salzburg. He remains the top scorer of the Austrian Bundesliga team so far this season. Such a feat for such a young player itself is a considerable achievement.
Liverpool are targetting the forward for various reasons. The Reds would have to start thinking about a future in the absence of their key forwards. To avoid a crisis, they have to start planning for the foreseeable future. By putting young blood in the team, they could strengthen the present squad and also secure the future.
Despite having a substantial interest, The Reds face heavy competition from Barcelona. It was believed that the Catalan team was preparing a January offer worth €40m for the youngster.
But it seems their financial backlogs has come to action. Despite Joan Laporta’s comeback to the helm, he hasn’t been able to sort out all the economic problems. In such a case, their dream to land the youngster remains ambitious.
Liverpool looked to be the advantaged party in this scenario. They could land a massive boost if Barcelona decides to back out from the race in the future.
