Jurgen Klopp on Mikel Arteta clash as Liverpool won against Arsenal in Premier League
Speaking in the post-match press conference (h/t Liverpool official website), Jurgen Klopp gave his thoughts on what happened between him and Mikel Arteta as Liverpool won against Arsenal by a 4-0 scoreline in the Premier League.
The Reds were dominant on the night as they showed no weakness after they entered the match with a depleted squad. The Gunners were on an unbeaten run but was brought to a halt due to the team effort at Anfield.
Sadio Mane opened the scoring, whereas Diogo Jota doubled the lead following the half-time break. Mohamed Salah and Takumi Minamino completed the beat down after a late flurry saw the team put two past Aaron Ramsdale’s goal.
“It’s actually not a really big deal but now I told all the others [journalists] so I have to tell you as well. So the situation is that it was a completely clean situation, so nothing happened.”
Klopp conveyed that the situation was blown up and the point of argument was of no issue. He added how it was simply two players contesting for the ball and, there was no foul involved. But the opponents’ bench wanted a yellow card for Mane, which led to the altercation.
“Two players jumped in the air, nobody touched the other, at least not like a foul, and the bench of Arsenal is going for whatever and I just asked: ‘What do you want for that? What do you want?’ There is no contact really and it looks like everybody wanted a yellow card.”

The commanding win would give the team a much-needed boost to overcome the loss against West Ham United. The three points would also help to get some momentum following the international break as the team gear up for the congested fixture list.
The Merseyside club jumped to second place in the standings but, the position will depend on Manchester City’s match against Everton later today.
