Newcastle United are interested in a loan move involving Liverpool forward Divock Origi
According to Northern Echo (h/t Shields Gazette), Newcastle United intend to lure Liverpool striker Divock Origi to St. James’ Park in a loan move.
The Belgian has been a silent giant at Anfield. The 26-year-old player has scored many vital goals in crucial games for Jurgen Klopp’s team. His winning goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final has made him a cult hero amongst the Reds’ faithful.
However, Origi hasn’t earned a permanent place in the squad. Most of his opportunities have come off the bench or as a backup in cup matches.
The Merseyside has one of the most dynamic front threes globally, and it becomes challenging for most players to replace any of them. The link-up between the three players has been crucial for the Reds’ consistent form and much of their success in recent times. In such a case, it becomes tough for a player like Origi to get regular game time at a club like Liverpool.
This season the former LOSC Lille player has played only 16 minutes of Premier League football. Despite the slim chances, he has time and again proved his value. He scored after coming on against West Ham, giving the Reds hope in a game that they eventually lost.
The lack of game isn’t only been evident in this season as the player suffered similar consequences in the last season where he played only 181 minutes of English top-flight football.
The enforcement of Takumi Minamino and Diogo Jota has only narrowed down the opportunities further for Origi.

In such a scenario, Newcastle has shown interest to lure him in a loan deal. The Magpies are looking to rebuild the club after getting substantial financial backing from Saudi backed ownership.
It’d take some time to turn the dream into a reality. In that duration, an experienced player like Origi can prove advantageous for the team’s on-field performance.
