Transfer News: Raheem Sterling reveal his interest to play ‘somewhere else’ amid Liverpool links
Speaking to Financial Times Business of Sport Summit (h/t Express), Raheem Sterling has fuelled the rumours linking him towards an exit and his preference for a Liverpool comeback by revealing his interest to play ‘somewhere else’.
Raheem Sterling has been a stand out performer for Manchester City in recent times. The English player has scored 117 goals in 308 appearances for City. But Pep Guardiola hasn’t given him a laissez-passer to start every game if he remains fit despite the consistent performance.
Whereas, in Liverpool, the protagonist Mohamed Salah poses the backing of his manager to start every game regardless of any tactical change.
Such preferences from the Spanish manager has made him concerned over his future at the Etihad Stadium. He has only played two full 90 min games in the Premier League this season, albeit showing positive intent.
The 26-year-old player has been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent times. But it is believed that he prefers an Anfield return if he manages to leave the Manchester-based club.
Recently Sterling has fuelled such rumours by revealing his interest to play in a foreign country. He also suggested that for him playing regular football matters more than the club he plays in.
“If there was an opportunity to go somewhere else, then I’d be open to it at this moment in time. Football is the most important thing to me,
The former Liverpool academy player also suggested that he is not frightened to take up new challenges to play away from the Premier League, which he has never done in his senior career.
“As an English player, all I know is the Premier League, and I have always had in my mind that maybe one day I would like to play abroad and maybe come up against that challenge.”
The England international indicated what the foreign languages are that he intends to learn in the future.
“I should be learning different languages. I quite like the French language and accent, and the Spanish.”
